I hate to inform you but i today recieved the prices for the test circuit we use at haynes for our track days and i have the task in saying the there has been a very sharpe increase in the cost of hiring the circuit.

I have copied what is put in their leaflet onto this thread with the workings out of how the money is divided between each person etc and have the leaflet here for anyone to see if requested.

im so sorry for all of you who have enjoyed these events but for a small club we dont have the funds to do this and i think its not cost efficent :sad-smiley-046:

Assured bookings:-

Full day:- £400 up to 7 cars, £50 per each additional car

Payment is to be paid in advanced when booked!

Working on the fact that we have 15 cars a time plus the cost of trophies it would cost each car the following amount:-

£400 (7 cars) + £400 (additional 8 cars) = £800 without trophies
£800 + £30 (small trophies) = £830
£800 divided by 15 cars = £53.33 without awards
£830 divided by 15 cars = £55.33 with awards

Working on a 12 car per each hire it would be:-

£400 (7 cars) + £250 (additional 5 cars) = £650
£650 + £30 (small trophies) = £680
£650 divided by 12 cars = £54.16 without awards
£680 divided by 12 cars = £56.66 with awards

To me this sounds very expensive and is at present nearly double what we pay now.

At that price might as well do airport days at £89-£99 per day.

Keevil is a great airfield.
For 99 pounds I thoroughly recommend it.
No organizing or worrying about payments as they do that.
Only downside is that it wouldn't be exclusively ours but I think its better to have fresh meat anyway. lol

Keevil is an operational MOD airfield, and is also used for gliding and driver training. It has long been used for motorcycle road racing, Formula 1 straight line testing and is situated close to Trowbridge in Wiltshire, within easy reach of the M4 motorway.

The track design at this magnificent venue offers a great mix of high, medium and slow speed corners with massive run off spaces and an excellent track surface. Drivers of all experience levels find this a true test and highly entertaining. The size of the venue allows us to use other areas of the airfield for intensive coaching sessions with our Instructors for those keen to take their driving skills to the next level.

The noise testing rules at Keevil are 100 Db dB(A) at 0.5 metres and at 4500 rpm, for motorcycle engines cars we require this to be at 3/4 of maximum rpm. This rule will be enforced rigidly, so if you have any doubts consider adding extra silencing. Please also note that due to a number of reasons competition cars can not be allowed at these events.

Please note that we also run private track days and corporate driving events at other UK locations such as Elvington, Bruntingthorpe, Goodwood, Kemble and many more. If you are interested in exclusive events at any venues please enquire by email

thanks for the info:-

do we agree that for what we are getting at haynes the cost is far to much

IIRC the price we're paying at the moment is for something like 7 or 8 cars then £xx after that amount , they don't seem to bothered at times about how many cars turn up

thing is, and this really bugs me , how many cars are allowed on track at any one time ?

why the heck should we pay per car ? should be per day ............

just hope other clubs protest about these crazy prices and also boycott the place

august ? thought it was october ? same day as jap show finale at pod , which is why i can't make the october date
if it's auagust then i'll be there

good idea putting it to a vote but i still say that we should tell them we've only got 8 - 10 cars , , it's not like they ever bother checking anyway . if we got 20 cars there then 12 are spectators :)

just hope we can generate more interest from THIS club for it

Surely they can't put it up if you have already booked it?

Surely they can't put it up if you have already booked it?

This is next years costs jon!

see what you mean dazza - just need to go careful with noise levels! If we did do it that way we would have to be careful

scoobyDAZZA

yeah but yeah but yeah but :)

it says on the website now summink about 8,9 or 10 cars then £xx for extra cars . . . i'd love to hear the explanation though if asked ''how come it's dearer for more cars when only 1 is allowed on the track at any one time''

so if only 3 cars went it would be £150 ish for the day according to there current website prices

should be per day not per car

as for noise levels , they hardly ever check anyone let alone all , , just make sure you get 4 or 5 cars in prime position for noise testing , mine will definately pass, so put mine near the gates then hopefully he'll do mine and leave someone else alone ;)

believe it or not the costs are as follows:-

half day - upto 6 cars - £300! - £40 each additional car
full day - upto 7 cars - £400 - £50 each additional car

so even if 3 did do all day they would have to pay £400 between them!

+ vat ffs

crazy prices , , , ,think i'll go and race bob round tescos for free

could be worth considering doing a joint venture with another club, say , like SWPC and getting info from Castle Combe
i'm going august 7th with a jap car club and it's £160 for the full day each. will be 8 cars at a time on track, approx 10 laps a time, and we should get 8 goes each . . . . and tere's 40 cars hopefully going. it is expensive but when you think about the briefing, tuition and marshalls, then it aint bad.
and there noise limit is 100Db . passengers allowed , helmets compulsory and all skin bar hands must be covered . . properly organised race day unlike the muppets at haynes who only give us a briefing/noise test if they can be a55ed

if this is an intrest i will get info and as there are alot of members who get on well with the members of sw-pc maybe we should approach the main person - who i think is nelson - and ask about a possible joint venture.

Back to subject in hand please - i will be enquiring as why the steep rise of costs, it could be to do with the noise restriction order

scoobyDAZZA
28-06-2006, 21:37 08
doubt it

they probably realise that they're always fully booked up and they can grab more dosh , just hope a load of other clubs also 'enquire' as to why the steep rises . . wish i got an 80% pay rise

Been to 3 of these places everyone of them had a good layout. Instructors that jump in the car with you and give you tips and the run offs go on for miles.
